Laser Hair Removal Salt Lake City

April 21st, 2010 admin

Why Laser Hair Removal?

Men and women struggle with the common problem of unwanted body and facial hair.   Waxing, tweezing, and shaving are time consuming and must be repeated over and over again. Until recently, electrolysis was the only FDA approved method of permanent hair removal. Electrolysis is extremely painful, every hair must be treated separately, and large areas are not practical to treat using electrolysis. Laser has the same FDA approval for hair removal as electrolysis. Laser is the fast and easy solution to unwanted hair.

How does it work?

The pigment in the hair follicle selectively absorbs the laser light, and converts it into heat. The heat cauterizes the nutrient vessel, which disables the follicle from producing hair.

Is It Safe?

Yes. Our laser is specifically designed to target the pigmented hair follicle while leaving the surrounding skin structures unharmed.

Does It Hurt?

The laser feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Most people say it is uncomfortable, but not painful. Topical anesthetic creams are available, however few choose to use them. Most laser clinics will let potential clients have a “test pulse” to alleviate the fear of pain.

How Long Will It Take?

The procedure takes 1 minute for a lip and up to an hour for a man’s back. Procedures are done 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Why Does It Take Multiple Treatments?

Hair grows in cycles. The treatment is only effective on hairs that are in the anagen cycle of growth. On average 20% to 30% of the hair you see currently is in the anagen stage. We recommend 4 treatments, some will be happy with fewer and others may require more.

How Does The Area Look After The Treatment?

Immediately after treatment it may be pink or red, resembling sunburn: this usually disappears within an hour. The skin is soft and smooth after treatment.

How Much Does It Cost?

The per treatment price is higher for laser than other forms of hair removal, however laser is more economical over the long term. It will save you money considering you won’t have to spend money continuously on other methods of removal.

Are Some Lasers Better Than Others?

Yes. It is important that the laser is new, because older lasers were not as selective in targeting the follicle. Alexandrite lasers are the best type of laser for hair removal. Candela makes the only Alexandrite laser with DCD (the GentleLASE plus), making it the most effective laser today for hair removal. The DCD is a patented cooling device that sprays cryogen onto the skin before each laser pulse minimizing discomfort and maximizing efficacy.

Laser Hair Removal Information

We utilize the Candela Gentlelase laser.  This is an alexandrite laser with a wavelength of  755nm which is selectively absorbed by melanin pigment.  The Gentlelase utilizes a patented cooling spray of cryogen gas which cools and protects the skin, helping to reduce discomfort.  The Gentlelase has the largest treatment spot size of any hair removal laser available, allowing for rapid treatment times.

Laser hair removal works by an indirect process:  the pulse of laser light is absorbed by the melanin pigment in the hair and heats the hair shaft.  If the hair is heated sufficiently, it permanently damages the hair follicle, resulting in no further hair growth.  Because the laser light must be absorbed into pigment in order to create heat, laser hair removal will not work on blonde or gray hair.  Likewise, it is difficult to obtain effective results on darker skin types because the skin absorbs more of the laser energy, necessitating use of lower energy settings.  Laser works best on people with dark hair and light skin.  Lesser degrees of effectiveness and permanence will be obtained on people with either lighter hair color or darker skin.  However, even if the hair removal is not permanent, laser is still the best way to remove hair since it reduces or eliminates folliculitis or “razor bumps.”  Hair that regrows tends to be finer and follicle size is smaller, resulting in smoother, cleaner-looking skin even if shaving is still necessary.

Because a hair must be present in a follicle in order for laser hair removal to work, tweezing or waxing prior to a laser treatment is not recommended.  And since hair grows in cycles, not all follicles will have a hair attached to the base of the follicle where it must be in order to permanently disable the follicle.  Consequently, multiple treatments are necessary in order to catch follicles at the right growth stage.  At least four treatments are required and commonly, six or more are needed to permanently eliminate hair.

Light Touch Laser provides the best treatment in salt lake city utah for laser hair removal. Laser Hair removal is one of our most popular treatments. We treat patients from across the state, including park city, ogden, sandy, and more. Our consultations are free of charge.

Tattoo Removal Salt Lake City

Tattoo Removal

How does Laser Tattoo removal work?

Tattoo removal is a safe and effective treatment used with a laser device.  Treatment includes short pulses of concentrated laser light into the skin on the inked area.  The method and delivery of wavelength is based on many variables:  color, density, professionalism of the tattoo and tattoo depth.  Black tattoos tend to be the easiest to remove because black absorbs the full spectrum of light being delivered.  Tattoos with lighter colors such as green and yellow have less pigment which cause it to be more difficult and may require more treatment sessions.  Results vary and treatment numbers can range from two to as many as twenty treatments. Laser tattoo removal ranges in price, typically anywhere between 100-250 dollars per session.

During treatment patient and doctor wear protective eyewear to shield their eyes from the laser. The area is cleansed and may be iced prior to prevent pain.   Treatment is generally quick and may be painful; patients describe it as worse than the original application of their tattoo.  Anesthetic may be used or Tylenol may be taken prior to reduce pain.

Following treatment the skin is tender and warm, patients may apply ice for a short time to relieve discomfort.    Each treatment the laser is breaking up the ink within the skin, desirable results will have the tattoo looking lighter and lighter with each treatment.   Some side effects may be blistering, swelling or redness.  These are desired results but are not uncommon and not serious.  Patients schedule treatments approximately 4 weeks for best results.

What is Dysport???

October 5th, 2009 admin

SALT LAKE CITY INJECTIONS SPECIALIST

-DR. JACKSON RHUDY

Dysport Specailist Salt Lake CityDysport is made by the company Medicis, which is also the makers of Perlane and Restylane—there hyaluronic injectable filler.  Dypsort is an acetylcholine released inhibitor and a neuromuscular blocking agent that is injected by a trained doctor into the muscle around the eyes, glabella and forehead.   The active substance is a botulinum neurotoxin type A complex that acts at the level of the neuromuscular junction in the targeted muscle.  Dysport is a neuromuscular blocking toxin that works by blocking the acetylcholine release at the motor nerve ends and reduces muscular spasms.  You are still able to move and make expressions; you just won’t have the wrinkles show when you do. It works very similar to the other popular neurotoxin, Botox.

It takes 2-4 days to take full effect after the initial injections and tends to last around four months, but sometimes shorter or longer just depending on the patient.  After several treatments of using Dysport, it will gradually last longer.  It is also considered a preventive treatment for wrinkles in the treated areas.  Because of the four months without strong movement, the muscles will become less pronounced.  It has been used in 27 counties for cosmetic purposes.  Dysport was recently FDA approved in the United States and released mid July 2009 for medical office use.

Patients should not use Dysport if they are pregnant or breast feeding.  The most common side effect would include the product spreading from the area injected, which can cause a temporarily drooping of the eyelids.  Immediate medical attention is required if it cases difficulties with respiratory, speech or swallowing.

Hello all!

April 17th, 2009 admin

We here at Light Touch Laser Skin Care Center are so excited because we have added a new and exciting procedure to our already extensive line-up of treatments. It’s the ECO2 laser by Lutronic and it’s the best new technology for major skin improvement! Unlike traditional laser resurfacing, this laser requires less downtime, the treatment time is reduced and it leaves no line of demarkation on the jawline as with other laser resurfacing treatments of the past. It is recommended for treatment of the face, neck, chest, hands and arms. Also, it’s a great treatment for the reduction of appearance of acne scarring. Because this treatment stimulates collegen production deep with in the dermal layer, skin will continue to improve up to nine months after treatment.
